Powerful Owl Study – How you can help

Birds Australia is calling on the public to help locate and monitor breeding pairs of the Powerful Owl, Australia’s largest species of owl which are also listed as vulnerable in NSW.

The Powerful Owl is known to roost in the Batten Reserve and in backyards of Lane Cove North properties surrounding the bushland. It is about 55cm tall and characterised by its large yellow eyes, massive talons, white and grey-brown plumage and its distinctive deep ‘whoo-hoo’ call.

Developers Batten down

Strategic Review of Mowbray Precinct announced

Lane Cove Council has announced that they are working in collaboration with the Department of Planning and Infrastructure to prepare a joint strategic review of the Mowbray Road Precinct. Council are saying that this will ensure that the most appropriate planning outcome is realised for the precinct. The SBCRA has requested more information about the brief and process of the strategic review. In the meantime, Council are referring enquiries about the Strategic Review to  Mr Eddie Swat, Department of Planning and Infrastructure, on 9228-6591 or eddie.swat@planning.nsw.gov.au.
